It's a fairly new operation, but a good opportunity to see the real thing. A running operation.

This is a great example of coffee plantation co-op. This operation is owned and operated by a large group of families that live in this area. The operation has certifications for both fair trade and ISO 14001 (environmental). All of the plant material used within the operations is reused is some way. You can tour both the plantation as well as the processing plant. Everyone is very friendly and helpful in answering questions you may have. This is located less than 30 minutes from San Jose and about an hour from the Pacific coast. Well worth a couple of hours for a visit. To top it off, you get to do coffee tasting and can purchase products before you complete you visit.
